Dr. med. Christoph Elsen, Wiesbaden

Our patients are in very good hands with Dr. Christoph Elsen. As a specialist in high-risk pregnancies, prenatal diagnostics and through his multicultural knowledge, he contributes to the wide range of expertise at Meduna as a partner in the practice.

Dr. Elsen has been a full-time practising specialist in gynecology and obstetrics since 2016. From 2012 to 2015, in addition to his practice work, he worked 50% as a senior physician at the St. Josefs-Hospital in Wiesbaden, focusing on obstetrics, prenatal diagnostics, birth planning, spontaneous and caesarean births, management of complications and aftercare. His many years of experience in the delivery room round off his medical profile. He is experienced and well connected in both the clinical and practical environment.

During a stay in Mérida, Venezuela from 2002 to 2003, Dr. Elsen began his journey in obstetrics gaining insights in the delivery room of a large university hospital. In cooperation with the Harvard Medical Center in Boston, USA, he also began his doctor‘s thesis, receiving his doctorate and publishing in the field of preeclampsia (high blood pressure in pregnancy). Since his return to Germany, he has continued to establish himself as an expert in the field of obstetrics, but has also received extensive training in general gynecology, gynecological operations, and gynecological oncology.

He was twice consulted as an expert on the topics of gestational diabetes and cholestasis in pregnancy on national television.

Through his clinical work abroad, Dr. Elsen has developed a keen interest in promoting women’s health in developing countries and is a member of the AG FIDE e.V. (Women’s Health in Development Cooperations), where he was chairman for many years, as well as the DAFG, the „German-African Friendship Society – People for Women e.V.“.

Dr. Elsen has close family and cultural ties to Latin America and advises our patients in both Spanish and English. With his attention to detail, his friendly nature and extensive experience, he is the ideal partner in all questions of obstetrics and gynecology, especially in the field of obstetrics.
